When you already know what is on your mind, start from its own page. Each topic lays out a different number of cards, and each position in the spread has its own meaning.

How your birth date sets the cards

Your birth cards come first

Add the month, the day and the year you were born, then keep adding the digits of the total until you reach 22 or less. That number is your personality card. Reduce it once more to a single digit and you have your soul card. The personality card is the side of you other people see. The soul card is the core you were born with.

This is the birth card method made popular by tarot author Mary K. Greer. Sumifuda Tarot uses these two cards as the ground layer of every reading, whatever the topic. You can look up your own on the birth card page.

How today's cards are chosen

The cards for a topic come from your birth date, the topic and today's date in Japan time. Ask about the same topic again on the same day and the same cards come up. After midnight Japan time they change. The 2026 reading is the one exception and stays the same all year.

About one card in three comes up reversed. A reversed card is read as its energy turned inward or held back.

Who writes the reading

An OpenAI language model writes the text as you watch. It receives the topic, the cards and their positions, your birth cards, your birth date and your question if you wrote one. Your birth date and question are sent only to write the reading and are not stored on our server. The details are on the how AI tarot works page.

You can choose a gentle or a blunt reading. Blunt says the uncomfortable parts plainly and keeps them short.

In the place of what they show, the Moon has come up. They have not yet found a name for what they feel about you. Slow replies and conversations that never quite land may come from that.

The Lovers sits reversed in the place of their real feelings. The attraction is there, but they are wary of the relationship changing. Coming closer and then pulling back is the most honest picture of them right now.

Where you are heading shows the Star, a slow clearing of feelings over time. Do not press for an answer. Keep your messages short and easy to reply to.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is nothing to pay and no account to create. Written readings are limited to 8 an hour and 20 a day. Past that limit you still see your cards and their meanings.

Do I get the same result if I ask again today?

With the same birth date and topic, the cards stay the same for the rest of the day. The written reading is new each time, so the wording and emphasis shift. This is there so you cannot keep drawing until you like the answer.

Is tarot accurate?

Tarot is a way of looking at your feelings and circumstances from another angle. If something in the reading rings true, that is the place to start thinking. Why readings feel right is covered in is tarot accurate.

Is a reversed card bad?

A reversed card shows its energy held in or not fully expressed. A bright card reversed often reads as not here yet, or arriving a little late.

How is an AI reading different from a human reader?

A human reader can ask you questions and dig deeper. The AI here reads only the set cards, their positions, your topic and your question, so a card's meaning stays consistent and nobody asks you to pay for more.

Is my birth date stored?

Not on our server. It is sent to the AI only to write the reading. To save you typing it again, it stays in your own browser. Press forget my birth date under the form to remove it.

Can you read tarot too often?

Asking the same thing again and again tends to deepen the doubt. One reading per topic per day, then carrying the result with you for a while, is about right.
